The Dallas Roost is Located on the corner Southwest corner of Royal Ln and Preston Rd In the 1100 blk of Royal Ln @ Preston Royal Plaza.The martins are coming in and roosting in the trees located in front of the Borders book store and other businesses Like Pier I Imports in the south west corner of the shopping center.
This event sickened Martin Landlords across the country. The birds posed no threat to the public and are a protected migratory species, yet they still fogged the birds to try to get them to roost elsewhere. Other less harmful methods such as bringing in trained falcons, or keeping the area brightly lit at night, could have been used. Instead, they fogged the birds which caused respiratory distress, sending the birds flying in terror in the dark and ending up hitting cars and other obstacles. It was completely wrong. We will see how this affects the numbers of martins in 2009.
